Let’s be honest, no one likes to do our daily household chores. It’s boring and tiring and it never seems to end, but we just cannot avoid it completely. But that doesn’t mean that you should let the monotony of everyday chores dampen your spirits. Here at Ishqme, we’ve concocted some clever ways to make chores enjoyable by adding some ‘me time’ activities to it. Read on to see how we beat the chore time blues with music, dance, crosswords and what not!

Groove to a Beat

When was the last time you danced like no one was watching? It’s about time you made it a part of your chore time routine. Crank up the volume, groove to some peppy beats and feel your heart swell with happiness. Music and dance are a great way to unwind and relax, so the next time you’re washing the dishes, don’t forget to try out some signature moves.

Catch a Movie

Cutting the veggies for the day or folding laundry? Watch a movie while you do it. This will help you get things done quicker and let you enjoy finishing up your work.

Set the Timer

Make your chore time a fun game time. Set a timer for each task and see how quickly you can finish. Racing your way through the task will get you all pumped up to accomplish more through the day. And at the end of it, don’t forget to give yourself some pampering reward every time you beat the clock.

Lift Some Weights

Slacking on your exercise routine? Exercise while you do some chores. Wear an ankle weight or a pedometer to count your steps, do lunges when you’re mopping, or side bends while you wait for the pressure cooker’s whistle to go off. Do anything, but make sure you do it. And the bonus, a svelte, fitter you in no time. But if it’s mindfulness that you crave, then breathe and mediate while you wait and see how well it relaxes you.

No Compromise Cuppa

Coffee, tea, juice, whatever it is that you break for make it a ‘not to be disturbed’ time. Whether you take a five- or ten-minute break to sip on something make sure nothing disturbs you. No calls, no texting, no apps, just you and your drink!

Go Artsy While You Wait

Be your veggies cooking to your laundry it could give you some time to sit idle. Use that time to do something creative. Paint, knit, colour, or just do some crosswords. Learn a new skill, read a book, or listen to an audio book. This will keep you refreshed and make you feel good about doing something productive.

‘Me time’ doesn’t always have to be a break time that you spend doing only one thing. When your day is swamped, combining your to-do list with some relaxing routines will let you accomplish multiple things in one go. And as you start enjoying your daily grind, you will be much grateful for those quieter breaks when you can pamper yourself silly.
