Staying focused when you’re super busy can be difficult and daunting to say the least. If you’re one of those people who stress more when work piles up, you know it’s time to get more organised. After all your workload might be the same, but what’s making it seem bigger is your attitude and most importantly how you go about finishing things up on time. When things get more hectic and work seems to be piling up, stressing about it is not going to take you anywhere. What you need is a clear plan of action, good time-management skills and the most important of all — creating a schedule and sticking to it.

At Ishqme, we know you’re overwhelmed, overworked, and tired of multi-tasking. But we also believe that if you manage to finish up tasks on time, you will be able to rest, relax and pamper yourself more. That’s why we’ve created this list of tips and tricks that can help you stay on the job, focus better and complete tasks on schedule. Read on to know how you can become more productive, every day.

Create a To-Do List

Half the time is wasted trying to remember the things that we have to do. Instead make it a point to create a list of tasks that you need to do. It could be a list for the day, week, or the month. This will help you keep track of what’s left out and cross the ones that have been completed. But when you make the list make sure you don’t overestimate your tasks for the day, because that will frustrate you more when you haven’t accomplished it. Breaking done things into tasks to do will help you visualise and plan the schedule ahead. When you make the list also make sure that you schedule breaks to self-indulge. Resting and self-care will keep you focused better and longer.

Follow the Task-In, Task-Out Rule

Mental decluttering happens only when you complete your tasks on time. But that doesn’t mean you should keep moving to the next task without completing the one you have taken up. Make it a habit to complete the task you have set for yourself before you move to the next. This will ensure you tick-off your to-do list and don’t have to revisit it again.

Break It Down

Intimidating tasks can be broken down to smaller assignments to make it easier to complete. When a task is broken down into small manageable projects it becomes easier to take up, concentrate and complete quickly. When it stops being overwhelming you will focus better and be able to complete it even before schedule, which will give you more time in hand to do the things you enjoy.

Take Breaks

When you’re tired it can be difficult to focus and give it your best. Always schedule enough breaks in between to rest and rejuvenate. This will help you get back to what you’re doing with more vigour and help you concentrate better. And during each break do something fun to take your mind off completely from the task.

Time management matters. Productive people understand the value of the time they have in hand and plan their day based on that. How you spend the time across assigned tasks and activities is largely dependent on you. You have 24 hours to do what needs to be done; while you cannot work throughout the day, making sure you stick to your schedule will help you stay on task and complete things on time. Make it a point to understand the urgency of the task, set clear goals to plan your schedule and the time available and stick to your to-do list and no matter how distracted you are try to focus and stay productive. Because unless you start doing what needs to be done, you’ll never be able to complete it, which will only stress you further.
